Shannon Bourne presents "Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bold As Love"

Sunday 26 April

Following on from a stunning re-creation of Jimi Hendrix's debut album at the Flying Saucer Club last year, Shannon Bourne returns with his band to showcase Hendrix's 2nd album, 'Axis: Bold As Love'. Shannon reflects: "A natural progression from our 'Are You Experienced?' show comes the "difficult' second album…'Axis: Bold As Love'. I remember my sister buying me "ABL" when i was 14 and was instantly taken by the albums breadth of material and guitar tones. From crystal line cleans to "amps about to explode" fuzz, from incredible rhythm guitar to highly melodic leads… Then there's the song writing! From the hard riffage of "Little Miss Lover" and the brit pop of "She's So Fine' to the soulful "Little Wing". Its amazing to think that Hendrix could move so quickly and develop as an artist in such a short space of time. He accomplished so much with his time and his guitar continues to "howl" across the ages." Shannon and the band will play this album in its entirety whilst also re-imagining some of the better known tracks. Guitar enthusiasts unite!
