Featuring 'Continental Robert Susz' who is best known as the lead singer, songwriter & harmonica player of the 80's soul band The Dynamic Hepnotics , who's SMASH HIT, Continental Robert's composition, "Soul Kind Of Feeling" dominated the charts in the mid 80's, Louis King and the Liars Klub, one of The country’s most Dynamic performers and accomplished Songwriters and Robert James Kirk who spent 30 years of crafting out a living from the music industry. This night will feature the cream of Melbourne’s Roots Royalty and is not to be missed!

15 years after her last album, Colleen Hewett (Wind Beneath My Wings, Day By Day, Dreaming My Dreams With You) has finally returned to the studio, to create the album she has wanted to make for a LONG time! 'Black & White' sees Colleen set her stirring vocal ability free with genres ranging from emotional ballads, to country and soulful blues tracks, as she takes the listener on a journey that traces her family history, including previously unknown details about her ancestry and experience with domestic violence. Described by John Laws as having a voice that “almost rips your heart out”, don’t miss out on the chance to witness an amazing history of vocal and performance excellence. Famed 70’s Blue Eyed Soul, Australian Super-group Stylus are heading this way in August and we are privileged to have them play here at The Saucer. Stylus were the only Australian group ever to be released on Motown Records amongst the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson. They released four critically acclaimed albums and toured nationally supporting the likes of George Benson, Ike & Tina Turner, Sherbet, The Average White Band and many more. Stylus comprises three of the five original group members - Peter Cupples, Sam McNally, Ronnie Peers and are joined by drummer Gerry Pantazis and Chicago's Doug Williams to re-create the Stylus soul/funk/R&B sound that features their hits "Summer Breeze", "World Of Make-Believe" and more. As Molly Meldrum would no doubt say, “Do yourself a Favour” and see Stylus perform live. It promises to be the concert event you will be talking about for a long time to come!

She is a singer, a songwriter, producer and author. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae hits spanning the 70s and 80s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Khan; her 90s renaissance with Paul Kelly. In 2010, Renee released The Ultimate Collection, covering four decades of Soul. Whether in the studio or on stage, this is where Renee Geyer is at home and continues to wow audiences with her remarkable voice. Supporting Rene on the night will be 'Gallie'.

Hugo Race & The True Spirit - Album Launch

Ex-Bad Seed and founder of The Wreckery, Hugo Race and his long time collaborators, The True Spirit are releasing their first album in seven years. “The Spirit” is the band’s 12th studio album, not including live albums and retrospectives. While Hugo’s prolific and eclectic catalogue includes solo albums and an astonishing variety of international collaborations, The Spirit presents a return to his roots in a psych-rock zone, tagged by Melody Maker in the band’s early days as ‘Industrial Trance Blues’. 50 years since The Velvet Underground’s first paid gig, The Spoils (featuring members of Mick Harvey, Something for Kate, Black Cab & The Gin Club) reprise their Pure Pop Records performance of “The Velvet Underground & Nico” – arguably one of the greatest debut albums of all time. For one night only, they join forces with psychedelic flower punks, The Sand Pebbles known for their psychedelic drones and driving jams who will perform The Velvets’ second album, “White Light White Heat”. Both albums back to back – track by track in an “exploding plastic inevitable”.

It would be hard to find a voice that captures the mood of a song more perfectly than this one. It’s the voice that soars with inspiration, soul and warmth. The voice of course belongs to Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite. In a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, Daryl Braithwaite is one of Australia’s award winning premier performers and we are very excited to have him perform once again at The Saucer this August.

You know her as the sassy lead singer of The Flying Saucer favourites, Jam The Funk, but now she is coming to the Saucer to present her own show “A Bridesmaid’s Journey”. Nikki’s career began as a session singer recording a myriad of well known jingles as well as touring with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Suzi Quatro, John Farnham, Kylie Minogue, Lulu, Aussie Crawl and more. This performance will introduce songs from her most recent record Bridesmaid, her rock album Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood (featuring music of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Jimi Hendrix), a collection of songs from artists she has toured and sung with and ‘on the road’ stories of her journey thus far. You can expect a spectacular performance from this very talented songstress!


The Audreys

The Audreys are a folk-rock act from Adelaide who are bringing their melancholy melodies back to The Saucer this September. Taasha sings and plays tiny guitars and keys, and Tristan plays normal-sized guitars. Their first three records all won the ARIA award for Best Blues and Roots Album. Their fourth, 2014's 'Til My Tears Roll Away, only got a nomination, but that's not stopping them working on a fifth. Over the last ten years they've graced almost every major festival in Australia, toured Europe and North America, sold songs to films and television shows far and wide, written music for TV, theatre and even dance shows, hit the charts, gone gold, and pawned their very hearts for rock ’n’ roll … and all without crumpling their vintage op-shop duds. With startling musicianship, scintillating banter and bittersweet songs, The Audreys will leave you all folked up and ready for anything. Supporting The Audreys will be Sime Nugent. The album is essentially about Karise's own life experiences that helped mould her astounding, soulful voice that she refers to as a “lion’s roar”. Karise won The Voice in 2012, broke ARIA chart records, and had the biggest selling album for a local artist in Australia that year. 40th Anniversary Celebration of "Neil Young's Tonight's The Night" presented by Nick Barker & The Studio Instrument Rentals

Australian pub rock icon Nick Barker and his bespoke band The Studio Instrument Rentals will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the classic Neil Young album ‘Tonight’s The Night', re-creating the record track-for-track together with an extended encore of other Neil Young gems. Nick Barker’s one-off band, The Studio Instrument Rentals named after the famed recording studio, features Michael Barclay (Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls) on drums, Michael Hubbard (Spencer P Jones & The Escape Committee) on guitar, Grant Cummerford (Matt Walker and Jeff Lang) on bass, Shane Reilly (Tex Perkins) on pedal steel guitar and Bruce Haymes (Renee Geyer) on keyboards. A veritable who’s who of the credible Melbourne music scene. The show was deemed a huge success recently at the Yarraville Live Club, so make sure you reserve your tickets early for this one folks!

The guys from Raw Brit are returning to the Flying Saucer Club this September and that can only mean one thing: you’re in for a ripper of a show. This time round, the group will be rocking out to not one, but two classic albums and they’ll be performing three huge sets of music. That’s right, you’ll hear them cover Bad Company’s self-titled first album, Deep Purple’s Machine Head and then, as a special treat, one set of straight out dance tunes. The band features Mick Pealing (Stars, The Ideals), Bob Spencer (Skyhooks, Angels), John Favaro (The Badloves) and Peter Maslen (Boom Crash Opera). Surely we don’t need to tell you this one will sell out, do we?

Accompanied by guitar master SHANE O'MARA, STEPHEN CUMMINGS will be performing this September at The Saucer. The recent 'SPORTS Reunion shows' saw the timelessly groovy CUMMINGS in action.
