A-Concert-of-Tom-Waits-Songs

Performed by Stewart D’Arrietta with Ross Hannaford & Philip Rex. “Rollicking…” (The New Yorker), “Rock solid emotion…” (The New York Times). NOT TO BE MISSED!

‘A Concert Of Tom Waits Songs’ by Stewart D’Arrietta, most well known for his role as musical director and co-creator with John Waters of ‘Looking Through A Glass Onion’, is a show that takes the audience on a vaudevillian journey through the songs and meanderings of the great Tom Waits. From his first album ‘Closing Time’ recorded in 1973, through to his most recent album ‘Orphans, Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards’.

Under the moniker ‘Belly of a Drunken Piano’, ‘A Concert Of Tom Waits Songs’ played for 9 months in Manhattan New York at The Soho Playhouse where D’Arrietta’s performance was described as “electrifying” by Variety, “rollicking” by The New Yorker, with “rock solid emotion” by The New York Times and “brechtacular” by The Village Voice.  D’Arrietta has also performed the show at The Edinburgh Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival and The Riverside Studios in London.”

‘A Concert of Tom Waits Songs’ puts D’Arrietta in a new light as a performer, as Glenn A Baker stated upon seeing the show, D’Arrietta “delivers not just the music but  the man, with Tom’s cascade of characters bathed in flickering street light”.
