The-Heartache-State-&-Draught-Dodgers

The Flying Saucer Club are super excited to have two outstanding bands hit our stage this October. Nick Barker and The Heartache State blew audience members away at their last show with us earlier this year. Joining them on stage and making their debut performance are The Draught Dodgers.

Nick Barker and Justin Garner have been playing together on and off for 10 years – Nick producing Justin’s band Southpaw’s debut album and Justin playing on Nick’s last solo record. The last 18 months have seen them hunched over acoustic guitars hammering a bunch of ideas into songs. Justin loves the Allman Brothers, Nick loves the Replacements, so the self-titled album of their new project ‘The Heartache State’ is a collision of sorts. Adding long-time friend and collaborator ‘VENOM’ on drums and Michael Hubbard (Downhills Home, Eagle and the Worm) to the mix, The Heartache State was recorded live and quickly with friend Shane O’Mara producing at his Yikesville Studio.

Straight out of the swamps of St Kilda, The Draught Dodgers have been making a name for themselves touring all over town. Described by lead singer Jack Davies as ‘the demented love child of Beefheart, the Cramps, the Stooges, the Stones and the Easy Beats’ audiences are expected to get up and sweat just as much as the band does.
The band features a respectable rock n’ roll line up with Tim Rogers (guitar), Mick Sayers (bass) and Evan Richards (drums). ‘”All of our respective bands have crossed paths in some way, shape or form. It was Dr. Rogers who decided to form a brethren of complete legends. They’re all super talented and an absolute joy to play music with.”’ says Davies.
