With a professional career spanning over 40 years, Kevin Borich has delivered his talents to audiences across Australia and internationally at Blues and music festivals all over the globe. Well known for his high-energy electric guitar style, his performance is hailed throughout the music industry as world class. Kevin has constantly worked with his act the Kevin Borich Express.  A special moment in 1979 saw Kevin jam with Carlos Santana before 80,000 at the Rock Arena mega  shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Santana praised Kevin, saying “He’s amazing! He sounds so much  like Jimi Hendrix yet has an individual style. He presents his music honestly and is one of the best guitarists I’ve heard.”

Over recent years, the Kevin Borich Express has performed at various international music events including the Fiji Jazz & Blues festival in 2011 and 2012, Jakarta Blues Festival in 2010 and the Bali music festival in 2011. Nationally he has been part of the ‘Long Way To The Top’ tours, Byron Bay Music Festival, the Melbourne International Music & Blues Festival, and headlined the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre in November 2010.

In recognition of Kevin’s contribution to the Australian music and blues culture, he was inducted into The Australian Blues Foundation Hall of Fame on November 21, 2003. The event marked 40 years of performing and 11 Top 30 singles throughout his career.

Kevin began his professional career with The La De Das in New Zealand where they experienced five top 10 hits during the 60s. They moved to Australia in 1968 and Kevin wrote their most successful hit, ‘Gonna See My Baby Tonight’ which was a Top 10 single in Australia in 1971. Kevin established quite a reputation as a ‘guitar virtuoso’ in Australia. During the 70s’ they played at most of Australia’s large rock events including the Sunbury Pop festival, the Rockarena tours to a crowd of 60,000 with Fleetwood Mac and Santana, and New Year’s eve celebrations at the Sydney Opera House to 70,000.

In 1976 The Kevin Borich Express formed and was a support act for many international artist tours such as, Elton John, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy and Status Quo. They toured the U.S. with AC/DC and successfully toured Europe in their own shows. Kevin included session playing in his career, appearing on many artists’ albums including Renee Geyer, Dutch Tilders, Richard Clapton and Mark Hunter. The 80s’ saw Kevin join a side project, The Party Boys who had unexpected chart success with the number 1 single, ‘He’s Gonna Step On You Again,’ and ‘Hold Your Head Up’ and two Top 10 albums. Kevin left The Party Boys in 1989 and joined Jimmy Barnes on his 1990 Two Fires tour. Simultaneously, Kev continued to write and tour his own Kevin Borich Express.

Kevin has performed alongside many famous and wonderful musicians including Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, Richie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Ronny Wood (Rolling Stones), Taj Mahal, Living Colour, Joe Walsh (The Eagles), Carlos Santana, Tony Joe White, and John Mayall to name a few. The Kevin Borich Express has been thrilling ‘blues enthusiasts’ as well as winning new music fans, young and old at festivals around Australia. His dynamic show delivers a set of cool, laid back acoustic blues with his beautiful 1930s Dobro steel guitar. The second set fires up with his ‘electric blues – rockin’ funk’ set! The electric set displays his array of guitars from the classic custom Fender Strat to his gorgeous Gibson Firebird Slide Guitar. Kevin teams up with the ‘cream of the crop’ when it comes to Australian musicians. The current line up features Harry Brus on Bass guitar and Paul Wheeler on drums. Highly respected Bassist, Harry has played with artists including Jimmy Barnes, Renee Geyer, Australian Crawl, Russell Morris, Ross Wilson and many musical stage shows. Paul Wheeler, a member of Icehouse for over 25 years is well known for his unique style, he is a force behind the kit! Paul has played with an array of acts from Sneaky Sound System to Adam Brand, Russell Morris, The Whitlams, and continues with Icehouse in the band’s current resurgence.

Together the three musicians deliver an awesome show…a mix of Kevin’s songs like Heartstarter, Gonna See My Baby Tonight, No Turning Back and Angel’s Hand…to blues classics such as Hellbound Train, Little Red Rooster and guitar favourites from Jimi Hendrix & Stevie Ray Vaughan.
