Maldon Folk Festival Showcase feat. Claymore, Co-cheol, Janette Geri & Nicolas Lyon, Sadie Mustoe

The Maldon Folk Festival and Claymore are proud to present a showcase concert of some of the finest acts that will be part of this year’s festival at the Flying Saucer Club. The evening will feature Saucer regulars, the highly acclaimed Celtic rockers, Claymore, the blues tones of Janette Geri & Nicolas Lyon, the gorgeous Celtic harmonies of Co-cheol and the stunningly talented Sadie Mustoe, who is only 11 years old. Come along for just a taste of what you can expect later in the year at the festival itself.

Janette’s music is a potent mix of Celtic, blues, contemporary and traditional, cool guitar playing delivered with total honesty and rare warmth. A voice truly remarkable, rich in beauty and power, she delivers songs of substance with grace, soaring passion and great tenderness. She is a compelling performer, earthy, playful, weaving a spell around her audience with original contemporary and traditional songs. Accompanied by award winning multi instrumentalist Nicolas Lyon’s mesmerising playing, their performance is truly magical….

Award winning vocal group Co-cheol are four lasses with some serious harmonising skills! They received the Peter J Daly Memorial Award for Best Up & Coming Celtic Act for the National Folk Festival 2015. They will take you on a journey to the lands of the Celts and beyond with breath-taking a cappella songs, as well as accompanied arrangements on the harp, flute, piano accordion, ukulele, and quirky body percussion. Be blown away by their powerful and beautiful sound that will challenge your idea of a girl group!
Sadie Mustoe (2014 Maldon Minstrel Award Winner)
Sadie is an 11-year-old singer-songwriter from the Dandenong Ranges who is in the process of developing her talent while wowing audiences around Victoria. She has been performing for a number of years as a solo artist as well as with the youth band The Patch Tags and more recently her vocal duo with Hannah Schmidli, Shannadie. Sadie’s songs are well crafted and beautiful to listen to. Her lyrics are poignant and delivered in a mature voice for such a young performer. Sadie has won a number of competitions including the 2014 Minstrel Award at the Maldon Festival. She is very grateful for the opportunity to record her first EP as a result of this competition and is excited to launch her EP at this year’s festival.
Claymore
Claymore’s reputation as outstanding entertainers has led them to perform at many local and international festivals, they have performed in New York, Scotland, France at the” Festival Interceltique”, the largest Celtic festival in the world many times, New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Launceston Tasmania, National Celtic Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Big Blues Day Out, Perth International Arts Festival, Brunswick Music Festival and many more. The band has played many live radio and television performances in Australia and overseas. With a mixture of traditional Scottish and Irish music and modern self penned celtic rock the band represents the best of new age Folk Music. Through a diverse and unique mix of sound’s featuring guitar, mandolin, fiddle, military snare, the highland bagpipes and even a didgeridoo, it is little wonder Claymore are one of Australia’s most popular festival acts.
