The Flying Saucer Club is pleased to announce that The Substitutes will be returning for an evening featuring the very best of The Who. The band took their name from one of The Who’s most iconic songs, so it makes sense that they’re paying tribute and performing all of their best music from 1965 to 1970. The group will be joined on stage by special guests Gil Matthews, legendary drummer of Billy Thorpe’s Aztecs, and Danny Robinson, lead singer of the Wild Cherries (which also featured Lobby Loyde) and member of the ‘60s pop group The Virgil Brothers.
Grab your dancing shoes and get ready to step back in time folks!

Why pay tribute to The Who?
In December 1965 The Who unleashed the most shocking pop song recorded up till that time. It featured a vocalist who stuttered and asked his listeners ‘Why don’t you all f-f-f-fade away?’. It included a virtuoso bass solo in the middle eight and ended in a cacophony of guitar feedback and manic drumming. Enter The Who, arguably the inventors of ‘rock ‘ music.

In addition, The Substitutes will open the night by performing quality tunes from the ‘60s British R&B era, such as material from the Stones, Pretty Things, Small Faces, The Kinks, The Animals and more!
