“The singer and main man of the act was John Dowler. He had a world class Brian Jones bob and the band played music that could have sat perfectly with any Beserkley or Sire label sensibility from the the US or Stiff from the UK. They played their own music, which was rich in harmonies, big choruses and jangling, clean twin guitars. John Dowler had great attitude as well. Cold and remote. They covered “The Singer Not the Song” by the Stones and, on at least one occasion, “Mr Tambourine Man” in the style of the Byrds. They made Adelaide bearable…”
