John Mellencamp teamed up with Willie Nelson and Neil Young back in 1985 to launch Farm Aid which ever since has been an annul music event in support of American Farmers.
In fact, Mellencamp’s album, Scarecrow peaked at #2 on the U.S. charts, representing “the plight of the American farmer” (mellencamp.com). Songs such as ‘Small Town’ and ‘Rain On The Scarecrow’ reflect John’s support for people that live in farming regions.
